Roger TALLON Le design en mouvement book
A DESIGNER'S ITINERARY
Based on the very rich archive of Roger Tallon kept at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, this book presents in detail all his creations and is a reference work on the designer.
Roger Tallon (1929-2011) was the first to apply methods resulting from American practices in the field of design in France.
A pioneer of industrial design, he began by designing machine tools before devoting himself to objects. His projects are always characterised by a global approach that integrates the object into its visual environment.
In the 1960s he was close to the New Realists (César, Klein, Arman) and his interests were diverse: cinema, semiology, graphic design, the press (he designed the layout of the magazine Art Press).
His production is considerable: furniture such as the TS chair and the Module 400 spiral staircase published by SENTOU, the 3T table service, the P111 portable television, watches for Lip, transistors, typewriters and projectors, as well as the visual identity of Fluoryl, ski boots for Salomon, petrol cans for Elf and bottles of sun oil for Bergasol...
His important contribution to the renewal of transport is shown through his achievements for the SNCF and the RATP (the Corail train, the TGV and the Eurostar, the RER signage, the Météor metro, the Montmartre funicular), but also the Mexico City and Caracas metros, tramways and buses, and his projects for motorbikes and modular cars.
